Hey everyone. I just recently purchased a 2001 savage 650. I really love the look and feel of the bike. I was very concerned though after I started riding for the first time. I see from all the posts I have read that the savage is notorious for backfiring. Mine does this if I downshift at times, and occasionnaly when accellorating. The previous owner thinks it is something to do with the muffler having a leak in it and possibly sucking air? But what I have read this is normal? Anyway he has offered to put a new muffler on. I paid $3200 for the bike and I really like it. Just wanted to get some comments from all you great savage enthusiasts.
